Mature Placental Teratoma: A Case Report

Introduction: Placental teratoma is an uncommon, non-trophoblastic benign tumor. Since the first description of this type tumor by Morvilli in 1925, only a few cases abnormality have been diagnosed and reported. Case presentation: We describe here 35-year-old pregnant woman admitted for elective cesarean section. The placenta membranes were delivered spontaneously. After delivering placenta, mass containing hair was detected between extraplacental amnion chorion. On gross examination, singleton weighing 173 g, measuring 15 × 11 cm area 5.5 thick, with attached cord membranes, observed. Microscopic examination showed orthokeratinized stratified squamous epithelium underlying follicles, telangiectatic vessels, sebaceous glands accompanied subcutaneous fat. fat also contained fibrocollagenous bundles. In addition, interconnecting bone trabecula rimmed osteoblasts mature cartilage found. Conclusion: An awareness placental from pathological perspective needed to include anomaly differential diagnosis nodules, obtain more information about unusual lesion, conduct studies on prenatal abnormality.
